Treated myself and my daughter to popcorn for dinner as we checked out "Sinners." Well worth the hype - it's fantastic. Michael B. Jordan is phenomenal as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, and the rest of the talented cast more than matches the high bar he sets. The soundtrack features a fantastic mix of Delta blues, modern pop and rock, gospel, and Irish folk music (trust me - it works), and the cinematography feels as sultry and brooding as the South during Indian Summer. The story takes place in the Jim Crow era, but it doesn't always go where you expect it to be heading. This new take on the well-trodden vampire lore is fresh, scary as hell, and leaves you thinking long after the credits roll.
